The HARD-E mini loader is designed for use in construction, road, municipal areas, as well as in warehouses, airport facilities and for handling bulk materials
One of the world’s first all-electric mini-loaders – HARD-E, developed by the Vympel State Machine-Building Design Bureau named after I. I. Toropov (Vympel State Design Bureau, part of the Tactical Missile Weapons Corporation, KTRV) – can be launched into series production by 2023. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the State Design Bureau during the Army-2022 forum.

“Serial production and expansion of the model range is planned for next year,” Vympel said.

The sample was presented at the exposition of the forum next to the KTRV demonstration center. The machine is a multi-purpose electric platform with a modular architecture and the ability to equip various types of special equipment.

In particular, it can perform the functions of a forklift, mini bulldozer, excavator, snow blower, drilling rig. The machine is designed for use in the construction, road, municipal sectors, as well as in warehouses, airport facilities and for handling bulk materials. According to the developers, the platform can be used in any climatic zones at temperatures from minus 40 to plus 50 degrees Celsius.

“The loader’s battery allows seven hours of continuous operation. At the same time, its charging is powerful, fast: it charges up to 80-85% in an hour, ”said a representative of the Vympel State Design Bureau in a conversation with TASS. “Almost 90% of it consists of Russian components.”
In the near future, Vympel intends to equip such electric forklifts with its own electric motors. “In the future, it will be completely Russian equipment,” explained the exhibitor.

Innovate experience
Work on the electric loader was started by the Vympel State Design Bureau together with KZDM JSC and the Lipgart Research Center of the N. E. Bauman Moscow State Technical University as part of the increase in the production of civilian products, the bureau specialist noted.

As for the planned cost of HARD-E, it will be slightly higher than that of diesel loaders. At the same time, by reducing the cost of refueling and maintenance, the electric forklift will pay for itself in three to five years, Vympel promises.

The carrying capacity of the electric platform is 1 ton, the operating weight is no more than 3.2 tons. The HARD-E cab is equipped with climate control. The machine is powered by a lithium-ion battery recharged through a CCS Combo2 port.
